I am a Young Person

Adolescent. Teenager. Young adult. Whatever you call it, being at the cusp of adulthood is a unique time of life, full of figuring out who you are and what’s important to you. And if you’re also navigating a serious, life-threatening or life-limiting condition, or someone close to you is, you probably have things on your mind that are different to a lot of your friends. That’s what this page is for.

This is a dynamic page, where we will add resources as we find them and respond to your requests for updates as much as we possibly can. We want this page to be a hub of information that is going to support you- so please reach out if you have ideas for resources or information that we should update. You’ll be helping to make the page the most useful page it can be for other young people navigating a life-threatening or life-limiting condition, too.

Our role in supporting you

When most people hear the words ‘palliative care’, they think the end is near. But for young people, palliative care is about more than dying- it’s about living life. The palliative care team is there to support their patient and the people important to them to make the absolute most out of the days you have together; whether that’s through helping with pain and symptom management, talking through worries or sadness and planning for the future, or helping you connect with services and groups that can bring you joy and help you make memories with the people you love.

You might have come here looking for services, for answers, for connection, or for advice. While we are just a hub for bringing together information, we hope you’ll find some helpful info and resources here that will connect you with the things that matter to you.
