Sharing your experience can make a real difference for other families.
Through the Shaping the Future of Paediatric Palliative Care Project, families are helping to improve care, awareness and support for children with life-limiting condition and their families across Australia.
By sharing your experience of palliative care, you can bring comfort, connection and hope to others navigating similar paths, and help them feel less alone and more understood.
Rachel, who lost her daughter Evie in 2010, says while grief can be difficult to talk about, it’s ultimately worth it.
“Sometimes you don’t have the ability to put these feelings of grief into words,” she reflects.
“And then when you witness someone else experiencing something similar, and they’re sharing their experience, it can help turn that light on within you.
I actually had no idea the impact sharing my story would have on someone, the ripples of goodness it could have.”
In sharing her story, Rachel highlights something many families tell us that even amid disbelief and grief, connection can be powerful.
We are now seeking families who may be willing to share their own experiences.
You can do this in whatever way feels right for you. We can meet with you and gently support you to shape your story into a written piece, or you may prefer to write it yourself, with our support to bring it together. Remuneration for your time will also be provided.
With your permission, stories will be published on the Paediatric Palliative Care and Palliative Care Australia websites and social media to help other families feel more informed and understood.
You will be supported by a dedicated and caring team every step of the way.
