Susan Trethewie

Paediatrician
Dr Susan Trethewie is a Paediatrician with experience in Palliative Medicine. She has worked as a Staff Specialist, Paediatric Palliative Medicine at Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH), Randwick since May 2002, and as the Head of Department SCHN Palliative Care since July 2016. Dr Trethewie completed Paediatric training at Sydney Children’s Hospital, and adult palliative medicine training through Sydney Institute of Palliative Medicine and SAC Palliative Medicine (RACP). She then worked in (adult) Palliative Medicine for two years.   Since 2002, Dr Trethewie’s primary role has been Paediatric Palliative Medicine. She has been instrumental in developing the SCH palliative care services, which have since expanded to a broad and consultative multidisciplinary team to enhance the care for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. SCH Palliative Care Service has been part of the NSW Paediatric Palliative Care Program since 2013. Dr Trethewie has been involved with Quality of Care Collaborative Australia (QuoCCA), a national collaborative group, since 2014, delivering education in paediatric palliative care.
